Lemmings were very scarce, Arctic Foxes and Snowy Owls were not abundant. Waders arrived in mass in the first dates of June, but afterwards cold weather caused backward migration and even dying of some birds. Wader nesting started with a delay, in late June, after establishment of more or less favourable weather. Nests and broods of Pectoral Sandpiper and Red-necked Phalarope were most often found; Grey Plover, Temminck's Stint, Little Stint and Long-billed Dowitcher were represented by solitary nests. Hatching in waders occurred during first three weeks of July. A substantial fraction of nests and broods were exterminated by Herring Gulls and skuas. The season was unfavourable for reproduction of most wader species.
